Richards, age 74, of Cadiz, Kentucky, formerly of Leesburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 22, 1951, in Leesburg, Ohio, the son of the late James Henry Richards and Etta Mae (Boggs) Richards.John was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother whose life was centered around the people he loved most. He spent 33 years as a dedicated truck driver for Bestway Trucking in Vincennes, Indiana, taking pride in his work and the many miles he traveled over the years.John was truly the life of the party. He had a love for music and dancing, and he never missed an opportunity to enjoy a good fireworks show or take in the beauty of a sunrise or sunset. An outdoorsman at heart, John found great joy in fishing, canoeing, and camping. He also enjoyed relaxing with his favorite westerns and Disney movies.Above all else, John cherished his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever. He was also well known for his famous bologna gravy, a meal that brought smiles and full hearts to those gathered around his table.John's presence, laughter, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.John is survived by his children, Troy Richards of Hillsboro, and Crystal (James "Bo") Richards Rust of Seaman; two step sons, Jason Moore of Cadiz, KY, and Wesley Moore of Leesburg; eight grandchildren, Alisha (Bethany) Noel of Leesburg, Dustin (Haleyanna) Quinonez of Leesburg, Taylor (Jacob) Frost of Winchester, Jacey Moore of Leesburg, Tara Moore of Illinois, Peyton Moore of Kentucky, Ava Moore of Greenfield, and Hudson Moore of Greenfield; eight great grandchildren with two more on the way; four siblings, Joyce Miller of Leesburg, Donald Richards of Greenfield, Beverly Christ Richards of Hillsboro, and Ron Richards of Latham; a sister-in-law, Debbie Richards of Cynthiana and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Bobby Richards, Donna Marie Richards, and Henryetta Richards; sister-in-law, Jean Ann Richards; brother-in-law, James Christ, and a step daughter-in-law, Angie Moore.Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday March 21, 2026, at the Turner Funeral Home in Leesburg, 73 E Main Street, Leesburg, OH 45135. Funeral services will take place at 12:00 p.m. following visitation on Saturday March 21st at the funeral home.
