John Phillip Vigneron
September 12, 1951— March 4, 2026
Delton, MI
John Phillip Vigneron, age 74, of Delton, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Born to Elwin and Bernadine Vigneron on September 12, 1951, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, John grew up in Fair Haven with his five siblings. He spent his childhood exploring woods, fields, and creeks, learning to hunt and fish while developing a lifelong passion for the outdoors and sports. At Algonac High School, he played baseball in a statewide tournament at Tiger Stadium, a memory he carried with pride. After earning a forestry degree from Michigan State University, he worked in construction before spending 25 years in forestry operations for MSU.
John was known for his strength, kindness, strong work ethic, and deep Catholic faith, which shaped his life and his compassionate, humble, and generous treatment of others. He found great joy in hunting and fishing, often sharing these pursuits with family and friends. He volunteered extensively with charitable organizations that enabled individuals with disabilities to experience deer hunting and horseback riding, and he served for many years on the team organizing the local Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation fundraising banquet. He also gave generously to his community by coaching youth baseball and soccer, and he was an active member of St. Ann Catholic Church, where he sang in the men’s choir.
At the heart of John’s life were his family and friends. A loving but fair father, he instilled in his children the values of hard work and integrity. He cherished his role as grandfather to his three grandchildren and held dear his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, who affectionately called him “Uncle Puppa.” He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Cindy (née Nichols); his sons, Patrick and Jack (Chelsea) Vigneron; and his grandchildren, Marlowe, Louis, and Luc Vigneron. He is also survived by his siblings, Archbishop Emeritus Allen Vigneron, Ronald (Diane) Vigneron, Patricia Maxwell, Mark (Anne Marie) Vigneron, and Gary (Kimberly) Vigneron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwin and Bernadine Vigneron.
John’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in the peace of Christ.
