He was at home in Allen, Texas with his wife, Bonnie, and sister, Lisa, by his side. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and proud and distinguished Air Force Veteran, John was born In Eveleth, Minnesota to parents John and Rena Rahne on December 25, 1944.As a young man, just out of high school, John joined the Air Force. While in the Air Force he volunteered to go to the Viet Nam War, feeling it was his duty. During his 21 years of service, he also earned a BA degree in History from San Angelo University, qualifying him for advancement, numerous military awards and eventually elevated to the rank of Captain. During his service years, John was stationed at several bases in the US and traveled extensively in Asia and Europe. After he left the Air Force, John's military experience in Electronic Military Warfare served him well in civilian jobs as project manager and other managerial positions for defense contractors.John met his wife Bonnie Rapp when they were both looking for a life partner. The two discovered they had Minnesota roots, Catholic Faith, traveling, and polka dancing in common. John was the practical one of the pair and Bonnie was the "fun maker". It was a love match for the last 19 years. John was proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed cooking Italian cuisine with Bonnie. They were members of the Italian Club for several years. In retirement, John continued for a few years to work part-time and never stopped learning. He loved to learn new things and was an avid reader. He taught himself computer visual arts including expert photography. He composed and contributed multi-media presentations including photographs, slides, text and music to Bonnie's family reunions and other celebrations of family, MOAA, and friends. He was knowledgeable on all things technical and electronic and was the "go to" person for friends and family. Whatever the question, you could count on John to have the answer or find it for you.A personable and fun-loving guy, John had many friends. In the last few years, he and Bonnie took several extended vacations, tours and cruises, to other countries.
