John English ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Hayes Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 10, 2026.TEXAS CITY – Mr. John Mark English passed away at the age of 63 on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in Texas City.John lived a life defined by curiosity, generosity, and a deep commitment to others. With a bachelor's degree in advertising and radio and television communications and a master's degree in English and Literature, he built a foundation in creativity and communication that shaped much of his life. His heart, however, led him to a different calling-working as a special needs teacher, where his patience, compassion, and steady encouragement changed countless lives. His talents were wide-ranging. He was a natural handyman who could fix just about anything, always ready to lend a hand before anyone even had to ask. Caring for others wasn't something he did occasionally; it was the way he moved through the world. He found joy in simple, soulful things: traveling to new places, fishing on quiet mornings, camping under open skies, and riding Harleys with the wind at his back. Music was a constant companion, especially Stevie Ray Vaughan, which he played often and loudly. He loved reading, cooking meals that brought people together, and even had the unique gift of being a ventriloquist-one of many ways he brought laughter into the room.He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Ray and Laura O'Neil (Hodgson) English; sister, Holly Elaine English; brother, Toby Ray English; 3 uncles, 1 aunt, and numerous cousins.Survivors include his sister, Carrie Lee English; nephews, Phillip English and wife Airica, Henry English; great nephews, Izaak English, Leo English; great niece, Lucille English; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of John Mark English, please visit our floral store. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
