Salt Lake City, UT
John M. Suazo, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on March 14, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born on October 17, 1932, in Alamosa, Colorado, John’s early years were shaped by his military service. Inducted into the army on November 12, 1952, he bravely served during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star. His spirit of adventure and strong work ethic later carried him overseas, where he spent four years working in construction in Vietnam from 1968 to 1972, two years in China, and two years in Africa. Throughout these experiences, John demonstrated remarkable resilience and dedication.
In 1951, John married the love of his life, Shirley Witt. Together they built a family filled with cherished moments. He was deeply passionate about genealogy, taking great joy in tracing and celebrating his family’s roots. He also found happiness on the golf course and remained an avid fan of the Raiders football team.
John is survived by his son John J. Suazo, his daughter Anita Bench, grandchildren Joshua and Alexis, great-grandchildren Shelby and Wolfgang, and his brother Sam. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his son Stephen, his parents Daniel and Rebecca Suazo, his brothers Victor, Pat, Lionel, and David, and his sister Liz Suazo.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with profound love and respect.
