John M. "Jack" Clayton

John M. “Jack” Clayton of West Branch, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, at The Villa at Rose City. Born on October 17, 1944, in West Branch to James L. and Dorothy M. (Curtis) Clayton, Jack spent his working life owning and operating Jack Clayton Construction. His strong work ethic, dedication to quality, and passion for building earned him the lasting respect of his community.

Outside of work, Jack found great pleasure in woodworking, fishing, and golfing. These pursuits brought him close to friends and family, reflecting his warm spirit and engaging personality that made him a cherished companion to so many.

He is survived by his children, John (Ann) Clayton of Gladwin, Holly (Brian) Brindley of West Branch, and Rusty (Ian) Matthew-Clayton; his grandchildren, Jacob Clayton, Kaleb Clayton, Kellen VonSteenburg, Boston Brindley, Greyson Brindley, Zackery (Amanda) Manning, Lucas Manning, Brooke Marsrow, and Maya Marsrow; his siblings, Jim Clayton, Julie Globke, and Rose (Mark) DeMatio; and his special companion, Donna Powers, who brought him joy in his later years. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Clayton, his parents Jim and Dorothy Clayton, and his brothers Chuck Clayton and Thomas Clayton.
