John Kenneth Caldwell, known affectionately as Butch, of Richmond, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Kenwood Health and Rehabilitation. Born on October 21, 1946, in Berea, Kentucky, to the late John A. and Dorothy McCollum Caldwell, he was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Bates Caldwell and Anita Carol Roberts. He is survived by numerous cousins.
A graduate of Madison Central High School and Eastern Kentucky University, Butch served his country in Vietnam as a Military Policeman and later as a Sentry Dog Handler with the 212th Military Police Company. Upon returning home, he dedicated the next three decades of his life to public service with the Kentucky Department of Employment Services, retiring after a long and committed career.
Those who knew him will remember a man who lived with quiet purpose, shaped by his military experience and his steadfast commitment to serving others. He leaves behind family and friends who will carry forward the memory of his life and the values he embodied.
