John Kendall O'Dell, born December 23, 1940, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to John Kelsie, Jr. and Charlyne O'Dell, passed away on March 14, 2026 in Ada, Oklahoma.

He spent his early years in Elk City, Oklahoma, where he thrived in baseball, basketball, football, and golf. As a young man, John proudly served in the United States Army Reserves. He earned a BA in Education from Southwestern and a Masters of Administration from OSU before devoting forty years to education and administration in Oklahoma and Texas. Through his work, he guided and encouraged generations of students, leaving a lasting and positive mark on their lives.

John was a devoted University of Oklahoma football fan and enjoyed college basketball. He cherished quiet moments spent with family, finding joy in the everyday ways people come together. Growing up as the only boy among sisters, he delighted in teasing them with endless enthusiasm, a playful spirit they remembered fondly throughout their lives.

He is also survived by his sister Linda Smalley of Norman and his sister-in-law Sandra Green of Ada. John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jana Jackson Biggs. He will be remembered for his commitment to education, his love of family, his steadfast loyalty to Oklahoma sports, and the quiet influence he had on the many young lives he shaped.
