Quackenbush, John "Jay" J. Jr.LATHAM - John "Jay" J. Quackenbush Jr., 76, entered Eternal Life, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his family. Jay was born and raised in North Albany with a family of five children to the late John J. and Marion Kinley Quackenbush.At a young age, Jay worked alongside his dad as a draftsman with Lux & Quackenbush. Jay then went on as a licensed Architect for over 40 years in New York State. Jay finished his career as a Court Facilities Architect for Albany County, retiring in 2014.He was a supporting loving husband to his wife Judy, cherished and loving father to his children, and was enamored with his five grandchildren, who meant the world to him.Jay is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith Pawlows Quackenbush; children, John Quackenbush (Allyson), Kelly Cochran (Dan) and Daniel Quackenbush; grandchildren, Zoe, Mason, Penelope and Bree Cochran and Mary Quackenbush; brother of Frank (Kathy), William "Billy" (Ellen) Quackenbush and Jill Ryan (Terry); also survived by several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Gail Q. Harris.Jay enjoyed golfing and socializing with friends and family at Wolfert's Roost. Jay also liked to travel all over the world, especially in countries where his children and grandchildren were stationed by the Navy, Japan, Germany, and Bahrain. He also liked to go to his homeland roots of Ireland for golf and leisure.Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jay's family, Monday, March 9, 2026, at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St., Albany, N.Y. 12206, from 4 to 7 p.m. Please enter the funeral home from the rear parking lot entrance only.Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Rd., Latham, N.Y. 12110, at 10:30 a.m., where his funeral Mass will be celebrated.The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, N.Y., immediately following the Mass.Donations may be made in Jay's Memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
