John J. Nemec, Jr.

John J. Nemec, Jr., 78, of Fredericksburg, passed away on March 11, 2026, at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Mary M. (Walmer) Nemec, with whom he had celebrated 47 years of marriage on November 18.

Born in Lebanon on November 20, 1947, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Fanovic) Nemec. A graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School Class of 1965, John served in the U.S. Air Force in Iceland during the Vietnam Conflict. He later worked in HVAC for several local companies including Agway, Blouch’s, Cassel, and Bowman’s before retiring from the New Cumberland Army Depot, where he worked in the Medical Warehouse. He was a longtime member of the Jonestown American Legion, the Legion Riders, and the Jonestown Perseverance Fire Company.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son, Todd M. Nemec and his wife Sadie Massar of Hershey; grandchildren Joshua Massar and Adelaide (Jayson) Salois; great-grandson Aliester Salois, all of Middletown; his brother, Robert (Joyce) Nemec of Sumter, South Carolina; and his sisters, Sister Mary Anne Nemec of Danville and Margaret “Peg” (Joe) Serba of Palmyra.
