John J. Mallozzi

John Mallozzi, age 79, of Girard, passed away on March 14, 2026, at the Humility House in Austintown.

Born in Martin's Ferry, Ohio, on November 1, 1946, to Philip and Ann Carducci Mallozzi, John graduated from St. Mary High School in Warren in 1964 and earned degrees in Fine Arts and Education from Youngstown State University in 1971. He worked as a freelance artist and adult art instructor with the Trumbull Art Guild. For more than twenty years, he volunteered at the SCOPE Senior Center, where he taught painting classes and became a beloved instructor to many seniors. John later became a Licensed Addictions Counselor and retired from Glenbeigh Treatment Center in Niles. A devout Catholic throughout his life, he was deeply involved in his church. As a longtime parishioner of St. Rose Church in Girard, he led Bible study groups, helping others to understand and appreciate their faith. He lived with a quiet conviction that a life of service to others was his true calling.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Ann Mizicko, his brother-in-law Bob Kovach Sr., and his nephew Bob Kovach Jr.

He is survived by his sister Marge Kovach, brother-in-law Michael Mizicko, nephew Greg Kovach (Angela), and nieces Michele Mizicko, Patty Shields, Debby Myatt, and Kathy Allen.
