John Gordon Henshaw (Member of Korean War Veterans #38, Retired Military Unit RCHA, Masonic Lodge AF & AM #128, Tunis Shriners #179 and Life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 72) – passed away peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at the age of 92 years.John Henshaw of Petawawa, beloved husband of 70.5 years to Thelma Hanshaw (nee Mott). Dear father of Malcolm Steven Hanshaw (Dorothy), Cambridge & Eileen Susan Robson (Roger), Petawawa. Son of the late Percy & Kathleen Henshaw (nee McKenzie). Brother of Mona Gaul (late David), Bridgetown, NS; brother-in-law of Eileen Boyd (late Howard), Elizabeth Hayes, Sandra Ogilvie (David) and late Ruby McPhee. Survived and missed by his chosen daughter Margaret Lever, Victoria BC and lifelong friend Harold Morash (Margaret), Halifax, NS as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.Memorial Visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St. Pembroke on Friday, March 27 from 2:00 till 4:00 p.m., and on Saturday, March 28th from 10:00 till 10:45 a.m., with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. A luncheon will immediately follow. Interment of the ashes in Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa (Military Section) on Thursday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 72 or Pembroke Regional Hospital are appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke.
