He was predeceased by: his father Rufus Mills (Buck); his niece Olivia Mills; his sister-in-law Nancy May; and his in-laws, Ralph and Gloria Duncan.

He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Hannah Gils (Ezequiel) and John Gregory Mills Jr.; his mother Ardith Mills; his brother Tim Mills (Lisa); and his siblings-in-law, Pam Bramlett (Milton) and David Duncan (Robin). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Capstone Church (4115 Watermelon Rd, Northport, AL 35473). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 10th 2026 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the same location.
