John Ervin Milburn, a beloved husband, father, and devoted farmer, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Johnson, Kansas. Born on April 21, 1944, in Syracuse, Kansas, to Elver C. and Estelene (Ford) Milburn, he grew up attending Dermot Schools and graduated from Rolla High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Fort Hays University, though his true calling remained farming.
John married Linda Carol Mumy on August 13, 1965, in Denver, Colorado. Known for his fun-loving nature, he brought joy and warmth to everyone around him. He found deep satisfaction in the outdoors through fly fishing, fly tying, bird watching, gardening, and caring for his cows. A generous man, he gave his time to the Boy Scouts and remained actively involved in his church throughout his life.
His proudest accomplishment was his family. Together with Linda, he cherished a life centered on faith, with church gatherings that brought their children and grandchildren together. In recent years, he and Linda moved into Memorial Living Center in Johnson, Kansas.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Milburn of Rolla, Kansas; three daughters: Ellen Vanderark and husband Robert (Bobby) of Springfield, Georgia; Lana Rodriguez and husband Benny of Ulysses, Kansas; and Andrea Milburn-Baker of Hesston, Kansas; his brother Charles Milburn and wife Rosalie of Rolla, Kansas; ten grandchildren: Sommar Stranghoner, Bryce Rodriguez, Lauren Daigneault, Josh Vanderark, Grace Gardner, Blake Rodriguez, Eirland Akers, Eden Svendsgaard, Ashley Baker, and Ally Baker; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Rodriguez and Evelynn Stranghoner; and many other relatives and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
