John Edward Specht, age 78, of Saginaw, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Adira Skilled Nursing Facility. John was born in Saginaw on August 6, 1947, the son of the late Amelia and Victor Specht. In 1968, he married Eugenia “Gena” Lurine Specht, and they shared fifty-five wonderful years together until her passing on November 24, 2023.

He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Bridgeport.

His most treasured role was being both a role model and playmate for all the children in his life. He was a faithful partner, a caring father and grandfather, and a valued companion to many. His legacy is defined by devotion, compassion, and generosity. He leaves behind lasting memories and meaningful lessons in faith for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Left to cherish John’s memory is his beloved daughter and her husband, Melody & Kyle Sutton; and “Papa” to, Iris & MacKenzie; daughter, Paula Crouch and her children, Kelly Hoard and Alex Crouch; son, Bill and Jen Thompson; special nephew, Eugene Nicks; and many other beloved siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, John was welcomed home to Heaven by his brother, Victor Specht; his wife’s sister, Lola Nicks; and grandson, Brian Hoard.

Private family services were held.
