John E. Simcox, 89, of Columbiana, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 3, 1936, in Struthers, Ohio, John was the son of the late Francis G. and Dorothy M. (Northall) Simcox. He graduated from Springfield Local High School in 1954. In 1959, he joined the U.S. Army, serving for seven years that included a deployment to Germany.

John worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and operator for several companies and retired from Operating Engineers Local 66 in 1998. He was a member of Allen Lodge #276 F. & A.M. in Columbiana. In the 1960s, he was well known at Canfield and Sharon Speedways, where he raced stock cars alongside his brothers. An avid bowler and golfer, John spent many happy years after retirement restoring vintage cars for himself and friends and attending local car cruises.

He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah L. Davis; three daughters, Debbie Bable of Boardman, Denise (Robert Ellis) Simcox of Tallmadge, and Christine (Al) Breinz of Leetonia; four grandchildren, Sarah (Jon) Borosky of New Springfield, Rachel Bable of Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, Alec Breinz of Columbiana, and Alexis (Tanner) Breinz-Irwin of Eagle River, Alaska; three great-grandchildren, Mason, Brennen, and Hayden; a brother, Bill (Sue) Simcox of New Middletown; a sister, Dorothy Lodwick of Leesburg, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Simcox.
