Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at the Church of Christ of Crosbyton. Interment will follow at the Floydada Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.John Robert Dunlap was born September 7, 1950, in Lubbock, Texas, to his parents R.G. and Helen Dunlap of the Cedar Hill Community north of Floydada, Texas. He and his older sister, Becky, grew up in the house his grandfather John Alvin Dunlap built for his family. John's dad taught him to drive a tractor when he was 8. He continued using that skill until he retired from farming. He watched his grandfather hoe weeds whenever he was visiting the family. John used that trait any time he was outside whether around the yard or in the fieldJohn was introduced by a friend to Judy Marrs of Matador. They married at Matador in 1972 following his graduation from Texas Tech University with a degree in Agronomy. At that time John's dad retired from farming and John began growing cotton, wheat, and milo in Floyd County.John was soon recognized as a leader. The first board to which he was elected was Producers Coop Elevator. Through the years he made many wonderful friends during his tenures on Floydada Coop Gin, Floydada Independent School District, Floyd County ASCS, Farmers Cooperative Compress, Cotton Board, and Lighthouse Electric Cooperative. He was selected Texas Agricultural Cooperative Council Cooperator of the Year 2015. John and Judy were honored to be the parents of Robert Dunlap, Bonnie McIntosh and Melissa Sengbush. Robert is in Lubbock. Bonnie and husband Ian McIntosh along with their daughters Karis and Laityn live in Floydada. Melissa and husband Scott Sengbush live in Woodland Park, Colorado. Even as John walked into The BeeHive Assisted Living of Floydada for his final journey, he was laughing and joking. If he could make a person laugh or squirm, it made his day. The Crosbyton Church of Christ family has been his source of strength, comfort, friendship for many years. He learned from wonderful mentors how to serve God and share the goodness of His love with others. John's family is grateful to The BeeHive and Interim Hospice Staffs for making his final days peaceful and comfortable in the kindest ways.Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice to benefit those in need. John prayed daily for God to show us ways to help others. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
