Maplewood, MN
John “Jack” Duddeck passed away peacefully at the VA Hospital on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the age of 10:25 a.m. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many, Jack was the heart of his family, and his presence will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Anna Duddeck; his sister-in-law, Mavis Mallinger (David); and his sons, Baby Duddeck and Mark Duddeck. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Carol Duddeck; his sons, Scott Duddeck (Cindy) and Todd Duddeck (Bitsie); and daughter-in-law, Jeni Duddeck. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kari Kogler (Ryan), Jonathan Duddeck (Abby Tellin), Samantha Duddeck (Jase Leiter), Shelby Duddeck, Jake Duddeck, Kaitlyn Duddeck (Alec Bobrofsky), Lindsey Duddeck, and Lucas Duddeck; his great-grandchildren, Layla Duddeck, Madison Kogler, and great-grandson Baby Boy Duddeck, who is on the way. He is further survived by his brothers-in-law, Gary Zick and Robert Zick, along with many other cherished family members and friends.
Jack lived a life defined by profound dedication to his family, hard work, and generosity. He instilled in those around him strong family values, an unwavering work ethic, and a deep willingness to help anyone in need—principles he lived by every day. Proud of his service in the United States Navy and the National Guard, he carried the sense of duty and the friendships formed during those years with him throughout his life.
An avid outdoorsman, Jack found great joy in hunting and fishing. He was also known for his practical talents, taking pleasure in making homemade jelly, canning, and countless hands-on projects that enriched the lives of family and friends. Above all, he was a man who could fix or build almost anything, and his generous spirit meant he was always ready to help at a moment’s notice. Most importantly, Jack was immensely proud of his family, whom he loved deeply and for whom he would move mountains. They remained the center of his world, and the love and unity he fostered will be his lasting legacy.
