John Adams ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte on Feb. 25, 2026.John Crosby Adams, age 85, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at The Maples Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on April 2, 1940, in Bozeman, Montana, the son of Felton and Elizabeth Adams.He is survived by his wife, Mary Emerson Adams; sister Sandra Jackson; son Jimmie Adams and wife Carol; daughters Jonna Jenkins and husband David; Sheryl Witt and husband Rod; step- sons Jeff Daugherty and wife Linda and Lonnie Daugherty and wife Diane; 13 grandchildren;and 24 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents.John grew up and received his education in Walnut Grove, graduating from Walnut Grove High School. John began his career in the United States Navy, where he served on the aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La (CVA-38). He was an Aviation Boatswain's Mate, Fuel Division, from 1958 to1962. He boarded the ship in Bremerton, Washington, completed two world cruises, and disembarked in San Diego, California. He found great pride in the time that he served and had many adventures to share with everyone.He had a very strong work ethic and truly enjoyed each of his careers. He was one of the first people to start work at Zenith Electronics Corporation in Springfield, Missouri, and stayed with the company more than 25 years. He then moved to Mediacom Cable, where he worked as a salesman until his retirement. However, he was not ready to slow down, and that desire led him to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, which became the highlight of his career. He loved serving and entertaining people from all over the world and, from time to time, would throw in his yodeling abilities. Affectionately known as "JC," he joined Silver Dollar City on March 31, 2010, and faithfully served as a member of the Attractions Team until November 13, 2023. During his time there, JC was a valued colleague whose contributions and presence made a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working with him. Marnie Howlett John's faith in Jesus and his love for his family were the heart of his life.He was a beloved son, husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose presence will be greatly missed. He was a member of Oak Grove Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri.A military graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Springfield, Missouri.
