John Brent Andrews
August 18, 1946— March 10, 2026
Indianapolis, IN
John Brent “Brent” Andrews passed away on March 10, 2026, at home, surrounded by his family and his loving wife, Liz.
Born on August 18, 1946, in Huntington, Indiana, to Elizabeth Emily Andrews (Ervin) and Walter Andrews, Brent spent his early years playing baseball and working on a chicken farm. His childhood friends knew him as “Andy” Andrews, a nickname earned on the baseball diamond. He graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1964 and stayed closely connected with his classmates, gathering with the Class of ’64 every fall. After attending Huntington College for two years, he transferred to Butler University, where he was an active member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He earned a degree in elementary education and taught grades 3 through 6 for more than twenty years at Crooked Creek Elementary School in Washington Township, sharing a lifelong commitment to education with his wife, Liz, who taught at Spring Mill Elementary School. He later enjoyed a second career as a realtor with F.C. Tucker before retiring.
Brent cherished golf, the beaches of Michigan, and a strong old-fashioned, yet nothing meant more to him than his family. He is survived by his wife, Liz; his sister, Marilyn Sue Anderson (Richard Anderson); his son, J.B. Andrews (Liz Kennedy) and their son, Booker (3); his daughter, Carrie Reiberg (Daria Weingartner) and their children, Lucas (19), Leo (16), and Eddie (6); his stepson, Matthew Hughes and his children, Jace (24) and Aiden (22); his stepdaughter, Kelly Balla (Chris Balla) and her children, Katie (22) and Lauren (19); and his stepdaughter, Erin. His children have pledged to honor him with a round of golf and an old-fashioned, inviting others to do the same in his memory.
