John "Fitz" Best, 62, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026. A longtime member of St. Stephen Church, he was known for his deep faith and the quiet strength he brought to his family and community.
He is survived by his siblings, Patricia Harper (Robert), Eugene Best, Gloria Jean Bell, Janice "Faye" Williams, and Rev. Bruce Shaw (Monica). He also leaves behind devoted nephews Da'Juan Best, Shawn Davis, Robert Harper III (Shelise), Ronald Harper (Lashelle), Howard Ray Best Jr., Micah Best, and Diamond Williams, and cherished nieces Sherry Michelle (Deon), Shonetta Burks, Cara Best, Nicolet Henderson, Tenesha Bell, Ida Best, and Brita Shaw, along with a wide circle of family and friends who will remember him with great affection.
His life touched many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
