John Mack ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Weil Kahn Funeral Home on Mar. 16, 2026.September 5, 1949-March 10, 2026John died of acute sepsis five weeks after surgery performed to reverse it. He is survived by his widow, Alice, and daughter, Emma. The son of E.J. Mack, Jr. and Elaine Joseph Mack, he was proud to be a fifth-generation Cincinnati native. He attended the Cincinnati Country Day School, graduated from Tabor Academy in Marion, MA, the George Washington University, and the Institut Internationale de Glion, in Switzerland. His parents encouraged his interest in foreign languages and cultures from an early age. One of his favorite years was when he attended the Université de Lausanne in 1968. His French was remarkable, and he spoke with no discernible accent. He had a real ability to understand European cultures and people. He visited Demelsdorf, Bavaria, where the Mack family originated in Germany, and encouraged several Cincinnati families to travel there. The "Mack-Seligman" house is today the town hall. John worked for Hilton International in Montreal, Athens, Tel Aviv and Zurich. He was a managing director of Bear, Stearns in New York in European institutional sales, then co-founded a company that specialized in the same business in Paris. He, Emma and Alice spent eight years in Paris before ultimately returning to Cincinnati.A private funeral will be conducted.
