John Arthur Hoover

John Arthur Hoover, 69, of Defiance, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on July 10, 1956, in Wooster, Ohio, to Harold and Mary (Moore) Hoover, John spent many years as a welder at Defiance Metal Products before retiring. In his later years, he found joy in driving for K&P Transportation and connecting with others through conversation. A devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan, he also cherished hunting, fishing, and cooking in his kitchen.

John is survived by his sons, Dustin (Jessica) Mann of Cincinnati, Duane (Sherri) Hoover of Defiance, and Derek (Kerstan) Hoover of Stoutsville; his sisters, Carol (Gary) March of Napoleon, Lisa Hoover of Circleville, and Amy (Tyrone) Dietzel of South Bloomingville; his uncle, Jonas Hoover; nieces Cindy (John) Larson, Erin (Matt) Kelly, and Mary (Richard) Coakley; his grandchildren; and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents Lawrence and Ethel Hoover of Circleville; maternal grandparents Arthur and Gladys Slevin; uncle Don Hoover; and aunts Dorothy Thompson, Martha Ensign, and Helen Swackhammer.
