John Andrews Harrison, 94, of Williamston, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
Born and raised in the Bear Grass Community, John attended Bear Grass High School. At the age of 60, he returned to school and earned his GED. He worked for many years at Long’s Manufacturing as a Tool and Die Maker before retiring from Hyster-Yale at age 72 as a machinist.
John was a passionate sports and racing enthusiast who loved attending drag races and NASCAR events. He maintained a lifelong devotion to baseball and was an avid Duke basketball fan. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Bullock Harrison; his parents, Slade and Betsy Harrison; his daughter, Joyce Bullock Campbell; his brothers, Jim Henry, Odell, Andy, and Robert Harrison; and his sister, Beatrice Marie Harris.
John is survived by his daughter, Millie Kelley of Washington; his son, Jackie Harrison (Linda) of Williamston; grandchildren, James Mendenhall (Amy), Kassie Jones, Matthew Kelley, Jessi Kelley, Brock Harrison (Abby), and Lauren Ward (Lane); great-grandchildren, Jamey Rawls (Thomas), Kayla Jones, Nora Paul, Grayson Harrison, Sophie Harrison, and Ridge Harrison; great-great-grandchildren, Easton Carter Rawls, Kenleigh Strickland, and Grayson Strickland; and his sister, Betty Jean Whitley (Ronnie) of Windsor.
