John Alfred "Al" Wheeler was born on September 28, 1952 in Louisville, KY and passed away on March 5, 2026 at his home in Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents Perry B. Wheeler and Barbara P. Wheeler of Nashville and his sister Elizabeth "Betsy" Wheeler of Nashville. He is survived by his sister Barbara "Barbie" Wheeler Baker and brother-in -law Kenneth "Ken" Baker of Nashville, his nephews Brad Baker and niece-in-law Saira Baker of Murfreesboro, Greg Baker and Lacie Bonner of Nashville as well as great nephews Dylan Baker of Bon Aqua, TN, Easton Baker of Murfreesboro and great nieces Emerson Baker and Briley Baker of Murfreesboro.
His family moved to Nashville in 1961 where he graduated from Father Ryan High School in 1970 and Memphis State University in 1974 with a degree in business finance. He served as President of his fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon. His career of many years was in financial sales . Al was gifted in the sports arena with swimming, football, baseball and basketball accomplishments. He was a sports enthusiast avidly following Vanderbilt, Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds and the Predators.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at St. Henry Catholic Church with a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Garden.
