John Alan "Alan" Harrison
May 4, 1962— March 11, 2026
Nashville, TN
John Alan “Alan” Harrison passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the age of 63.
Born on May 4, 1962, to the late Robert Calvin Harrison and the late Ann Holley Harrison Heard, Alan was the youngest of four children. He is survived by his brothers Robert (Lisa) Harrison and Stephen (Mary/Sissy) Harrison, his sister Kathryn (Ray) McCall, four nieces—Ann Marie Kahle, Kristine Neff, Chelsea Harrison, and Holley Henley—and two nephews, Chase Harrison and Will Harrison. A lifelong resident of Nashville, he attended Woodmont Elementary School and St. Paul’s Academy. Alan spent his career as a residential builder, working for many years with Rochford Construction, later with Gianikas Construction as a custom home builder, and eventually building custom homes on his own.
Alan was happiest on his farm, where he later operated an Airbnb known as Poplar Creek Stables. Surrounded by the animals he cherished, he found deep joy in nature—whether at the lake or in his barn—with his beloved creatures always at the center of his world. He leaves behind his Golden Retriever, Esther, his miniature horse, Spanky, and his miniature donkey, Willis, as well as a large and devoted circle of friends who remained an important part of his life for many years. The family is especially grateful to his dear friend Brandon for the kindness and steadfast support he provided in Alan’s final weeks, allowing him to remain in his home as he had wished.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Discovery House in Burns, Tennessee, or Happy Tales Humane in Franklin, Tennessee, in honor of Alan Harrison.
