Joey Duvall ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Neal Funeral Home on Mar. 16, 2026.Joey Franklin Duvall1962-2026"The stories will be told, the laughter will return, and the love he gave will live on in every generation after him."Joey Franklin Duvall, age 63, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed peacefully away surrounded with the love of his family on his heart, on March 14, 2026.Joey was born as the days promised a warmer spring on April 19, 1962. He was the third of four children and only son of the late Earl Franklin "Frank" and Betty Lou Houck Duvall. Joey was a 1980 graduate of Boyd County High School. His father, a TV repair man instilled a knowledge of electronics on his young son which Joey took to easily. It was this set of skills that led him to his career at NewTech Systems where he began in IT. The company provided him with a fulfilling career and social network. Joey loved being around others. His quick wit made him special, and people just loved to be around him. If Joey wasn't poking fun at you then you had best be worried. It was just his way of showing love. He kept everyone smiling with his sharp come backs and his mischievous grin. Joey was quite the fan in many aspects of his life. He was known as coach to many. Joey spent years coaching baseball and shaping the youth in the Ashland American and Babe Ruth Leagues.Joey was a true example of what a family man should look like. He cherished the time he spent with them. When his son was younger he enjoyed taking him on the job with him and showing him off. His favorite title was that of papaw. It was a title that he waited not so patiently to achieve. His days spent with his grandson were some of the best of his life. Joey enjoyed spending time with his siblings and never believed in the term "in-laws". He was blessed with brothers after it was all said and done.Joey found his peace in the stillness of the water. Being on the lake fishing was one of his happy places. He always found magic on Christmas mornings. Being the faithful servant of the Lord, the holiday was just special to him. Joey was a member of the New Beginning Church Of The Nazerene. It was a place that he felt close to God and close to his church family. He served as the Sound Tech there for many years. Although Joey's life was cut short, his family takes great comfort in knowing that he is enjoying the beautiful crystal lakes and streams and his Heavenly Home. Joey's light will continue to shine here among us through every story told to his grandson, and every memory he made with his family and friends.Joey leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Carol Ray Duvall, his beloved son Cristopher "Cris" Duvall and his wife Tricia of Burlington, KY, his precious grandbaby Conor Duvall, his sisters Christi Gill and her husband Shelby of Winchester, KY, Kathy Wheeler and her husband Sheldon of Ashland, KY, and Melissa Cox and her husband Mike of Louisa, KY, and his brothers-in-law Jeff Ray and his wife Sabra, and Greg Ray and his wife Shelly, both of Ashland, KY.
