July 9, 1959— March 11, 2026
Mountain Top, PA
Joel F. Kuzyk, 66, of Mountain Top, passed away on March 11, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born on July 9, 1959, in Queens, New York, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Gillis Kuzyk. He graduated from Bishop Hoban High School and attended WACC/Penn College of Technology, where he began his training as a diesel mechanic.
Joel took great pride in his work, spending 48 years advancing from the basics to become a Class A diesel mechanic and a respected mentor to those eager to learn. A lifelong member of St. Jude’s Parish in Mountain Top, he was also a devoted Penn State fan. Above all, he cherished his family. He loved spending time outdoors with his brothers fishing and hunting, sharing his gardening knowledge, and patiently answering every “how do I” question. His affection for his dogs, Buddy and Baxter, was well known; they often sat in his lap enjoying watermelon and Cheez-Its together.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vera “Dee” Moon Kuzyk; his daughters, Adrianne Kuzyk-Sorensen and her husband, Benn, of East Meredith, New York, and Tina Kuzyk and her husband, Paul Konschnik, of Wapwallopen; his cherished grandchildren, Cody (Haylee) Konschnik, Noah Konschnik, Hunter Konschnik, Sorena Sorensen, Joseph Sorensen, Elora Sorensen, and Alexander Sorensen; his sister, Jolaine (Timothy) Dymond; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Sorensen.
Joel will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his genuine love for the simple joys of life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
