Joel Eller ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Harrington Funeral Home & Crematory - Hamlet on Mar. 7, 2026.Joel Hester Eller, 82, of Stella, NC, formerly of Hamlet, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Novant New Hanover Medical Center in Wilmington.He was born in Winston Salem, NC on August 15, 1943, to the late Ray Alfonzo Eller and Carrie Hester Eller.Joel proudly served in the United States Army Special Forces from 1961 to 1965, including service with the 101st Airborne Division. After his military service, he remained active in his community and was a dedicated member of Hamlet Masonic Lodge #532, as well as a proud Shriner.He had a love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. Known for his warm personality, he loved sharing stories with friends and family. Above all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Lynda Goodwyn Eller and brothers, James Eller and Jack Eller.Joel is survived by his daughter, Lynnette Eller Butler (Tony) of Hamet; son, Lee Everette Eller (Christina) of Stella, NC; grandchildren, Carrie Gathings (Brett), George Butler, and Joel Thomas Butler; brothers, Johnnie Eller of Jacksonville, NC and Jerry Eller (Paula); sisters, June Carroll of Winston Salem, NC and Joann Hendrick of Rural Hall, NC; and special friends, David Adams and Richard O'Neal.A visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 pm, at Harrington Funeral Home in Hamlet.A Memorial Service will immediately follow the visitation at 6:00 pm, with Jerry Ethridge officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
