Joel A. Bierly Sr.

Joel A. Bierly Sr., 71, of Watsontown, passed away on March 10, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born on August 21, 1954, in Jersey Shore, he was the son of the late Kenneth E. and Thelma L. (Waddell) Bierly. On December 28, 1985, he married Mary Jane Horton, and the couple shared 40 years of marriage. A man of quiet faith, Joel previously attended Delaware Run Wesleyan Church in Watsontown and more recently worshipped at Fairview Church of the Nazarene in Turbotville. He was a skilled diesel mechanic and owner-operator truck driver who took great satisfaction in working alongside Mary on their small farm.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; their children, Jolene Bierly of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, and Joel A. Bierly Jr. and his wife Ashley of White Deer; one granddaughter, Faith Bierly; and his brother, Jeff Bierly and his wife Sue of Newburn, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents and by three brothers, Michael, John, and Jerry Bierly, and two sisters, Kitty Lower and Karen Carpenter.
