Joe Barron ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Laird Funeral Home on Mar. 16, 2026.Joe Lynn Barron, 76, of Madisonville, Texas passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, in Madisonville.Joe was born on July 11, 1949, to Joe Walton Barron and Lela (Fulmer) Barron. He graduated in 1967 from Central Heights High School. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and went on to teach and coach basketball and baseball at several schools including Joaquin, Central Heights, Snook, and Madisonville.For Joe, coaching was far more than just a job, but rather a true passion. He spent hours watching videos of games, recording stats, and working with athletes to build their capacity for the potential he saw in them. One of his favorite accomplishments was winning the Dixie Baseball World Series with his Nacogdoches team. He fondly remembered his past players and fellow coaches and loved to recall stories about their times together. He considered many of them like family.In addition to high school sports, Joe also enjoyed watching and keeping up with stats for college and professional sports. He could recall facts and stats about teams and players with ease. His favorite team by far was the Houston Astros.Joe is survived by his sister Judy DeBrock and husband John, nephew David DeBrock and wife Natalie, niece Karen Stewart and husband Aaron, great nephews Nathan Stewart, Ryan Stewart, and Jim DeBrock; and great niece Lela Stewart. Although he had no children of his own, Joe leaves a legacy of love for his nephews, nieces, and past players.He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Walton Barron, and mother, Lela (Fulmer) Barron.Serving as pallbearers are: David DeBrock, Nathan Stewart, Ryan Stewart, Aaron Stewart, Craig Kovar, Kirk Macik, Tim Stringfellow, and Rusty Harris. Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Jim DeBrock.Funeral services for Mr. Joe Lynn Barron will be held at Laird Funeral Home on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM, following visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the same location.
