Mrs. Joe Ann Thrailkill Parker, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026 in Hiawassee, Georgia. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on October 3, 1929 to the late William Horace Thrailkill and Nellie Farmer Thrailkill. She lived in the Atlanta area until moving to Hiawassee 43 years ago. Joe Ann retired from Owens-Illinois, FPD Southeastern Regional Office. She was a member of McConnell Memorial Baptist Church for the last 43 years where she made many long lasting friendships and was active in the church in many ways. Over the years, Joe Ann served as a Pink Lady at Chatuage Hospital.
Her legacy of love resilience, strong faith and dedication to family will continue to live on through generations. She was dearly loved and cherished by her family, friends, and by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her sweet and loving husband, Mark Parker.
Joe Ann is survived by one stepson and step daughter in law; Kenneth and Carolyn Parker; two grandsons, Taylor and wife, Brooklynn Parker; Madison and wife, Karla Parker; three great grandchildren; Ava Brooks, Owen Andrew, and Emma Ann Parker. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Joe Ann is further survived by her special friends and neighbors whom became family to her.
Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church in Hiawassee, Georgia, with Pastor Steve Taylor officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the McConnell Memorial Baptist Church on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 1:00 P.M. until the 2:00 P.M. funeral service hour. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Joe Ann's memory be made to McConnell Memorial Baptist Church or Sweet Comfort Hospice.
