Joaquina Iris "Lydia" Saez

Joaquina Iris Saez, affectionately known as Lydia, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at MidState Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old.

Born on August 21, 1937, in Lares, Puerto Rico, Lydia was the daughter of the late Artemio and Esperanza (Rivera) Gonzalez. She shared a long life with her husband, the late Florentino Saez. Lydia found simple pleasures in tending to her beloved plants, watching her favorite telenovelas, visiting casinos, and collecting elephant figurines, which brought her quiet joy throughout the years.

She is survived by her five daughters, Mirian, Margarita, Mildred, Milagros, and Maritza; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and her two brothers, Tony and Victor. Lydia was predeceased by her grandson, Neil, her sister, Lucy, and her brother, Edwin. Her warmth, devotion to family, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
