Joaquín Tapia Salgado was born on August 16, 1949, in Guerrero, México, and passed away on March 3, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. A man of strength, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family, Joaquín lived a life defined by hard work and quiet determination. He served with honor as a police officer in Mexico City for approximately fifteen years before emigrating to the United States with his family. He first settled in California and later made his home in Texas, where he continued to build a better future through his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2005, Joaquín opened El Molino, a small family-owned restaurant in the Northside of Fort Worth. For more than a decade, the restaurant stood as a proud symbol of his effort, perseverance, and deep commitment to keeping his family united through shared work. He took genuine joy in watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow and thrive, often spending quiet moments tending to his beloved plants at home or listening to norteña music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martina Salgado and Hipólito Tapia. Joaquín is survived by his beloved wife of more than fifty years, Adelina Tapia; his sons Vidal Tapia, José Tapia, Martín Tapia, Joaquín Tapia Jr., and Ramiro Tapia; his daughters Susana Gutiérrez, Cecilia Huerta, Marina Tapia, and Mari Carmen Tapia Sánchez; his brother Benito Tapia Salgado; and his sisters Celsa Sánchez, Filiberta Tapia, Isabel Tapia, and Judith Voska. He will be lovingly remembered by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his cherished pet.
Joaquín Tapia Salgado will be remembered as a proud man who built a meaningful life with his own hands, rooted in love for his family and respect for his heritage. His example of hard work, generosity, and devotion leaves a lasting legacy in everyone who knew him.
