Joaquin Orlando Rivera
August 18, 1945— March 8, 2026
Dundalk, MD
Joaquin passed away surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, generosity, and quiet strength.
Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, Joaquin later came to the United States in the 1960s in search of opportunity and a better life for his family. As a young man, he served as a Merchant Marine, traveling the world for several years and embracing adventure before eventually settling down to build a life centered around family.
Joaquin later worked for JK Cabinets, where he remained a dedicated and hardworking employee until his retirement in 2006 at the age of 62. Those who knew him remember his strong work ethic, his loyalty, and his pride in providing for those he loved.
Family was the center of Joaquin's world. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carmen, and was one of thirteen siblings, six of whom preceded him in passing.
He leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his six children: Maggie, Beverly, Mirta, Nydia, Pito, and Hector, four step children, along with 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Joaquin had a big heart for children and charitable causes, always willing to lend a helping hand where it was needed. He also had simple pleasures he loved deeply-rice, beans, and chicken, time with family, and spending Sunday afternoons at the racetrack, which he often joked was his version of church.
Joaquin will be remembered for his warm heart, his love for his homeland of Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, and the deep devotion he showed to his family throughout his life.
Public viewings will take place at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a service beginning at 8:00 PM.
His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and in the family he loved so fiercely.
