Joanne Weisenburger

Joanne (Knight) Weisenburger, 64, of Middletown, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Knight and Charlene (Nye) Smedick.Joanne worked as bartender and permittee at the Fraternal Order of Eagles for 17 years. She also served as office manager at Krol’s Autobody. Her passions included cooking (a lovely Sunday dinner I might add), music, playing cards, and being “G-ma” to her beloved grandchildren, as well as doting on her cherished grandcat, Binx.She is survived by her loving husband, John Weisenburger of Rockfall; her daughters, Jessica Bonk of Newington and her husband Kyle, Kelly Melton of Middletown and her husband Shane, and Ashley Weisenburger of Middletown; grandchildren Kaiden Melton, Brendan and Britney Bonk; brother Raymond Knight and his fiancée Nidzara; sisters Patricia Knight and her partner Billy, Barbara Rushford and her husband Kenny, and Peggie Knight-Lentini and her husband Stanley; nieces Melissa Rushford and Krystle MacDonald; nephews Kenneth and his wife Alex, and Brendan Rushford.Joanne considered the members of the Eagles her second family, she greatly cherished the friendships she made there. The family expresses heartfelt thanks for the love and support received during this difficult time. In honor of Joanne there will be a celebration of life will be held at a later date to be determined.Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, with a service following at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
