Joanne Hicks ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Conner Family Funeral Home & Cremation Center - Mountain Home on Mar. 16, 2026.Joanne Southard Hicks, 76, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 15, 2026, in Mountain Home with Sis and Bobby at her side. She was born to Eudell and Mary (Funkhouser) Southard on May 2, 1949, at the family home in Jordan, Arkansas. She married Danny Dean Hicks on March 25, 1970, in Calico Rock, Arkansas. Their early marriage was spent at the Fort Benning, Georgia Army Base where Danny was stationed. They were married 42 years before his death. Their union brought two children and three grandchildren into the world.Throughout her years she enjoyed spending time playing with her grandchildren, riding horses, sewing, riding 4-wheelers in the National Forest, spending time at the cabin and planting flowers. Joanne was blessed with many lifelong friends she acquired from her forty years of employment at Baxter Lab. One of her most favorite things was going to yard sales with her best friend Jan ray.Over the years she was a member of the Baxter County Historical Society, Arkansas Children's Hospital Circle of Friends and a founding member of the razzle dazzle Red Hatters with her friend Sharon Alman.Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Eudell and Mary Southard; her husband, Danny Dean Hicks; two nephews, Michael Coggins and Desi Jones; two brothers-in-law, Shorty Teegarden and Franklin Coggins and one of her best friends, Sharon Alman. She is survived by one daughter, Michelle Ann Lindquist (Tim) of Mountain Home; one son, Bobby Hicks (Wendy Treat) of Mountain Home; two grandsons, Braden Dean Hicks "Phoo-phoo" and James Samuel Lindquist; one granddaughter, Micah Maryann Neubauer "Poo-poo"; one brother, Keith Southard of Springfield, MO; three sisters, Betty Teague (Barton) of Salem, AR, Maxine Coggins of Springfield, MO and Wilma Teegarden of Jordan, AR; her best friend, Jan Ray and a host of nieces and nephews and their families.A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Harmony Free Will Baptist Church in Mountain Home with James Samuel Lindquist and Daniel Schmidt officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Teegarden, Ty Staggs, Lance May, Buck Neubauer, Shawn Sutterfield and James Samuel Lindquist. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Curtis-Acklin Cemetery near Norfork, AR.Donations in Joanne's name can be made to Curtis-Acklin Cemetery, c/o Janice Acklin, 751 CR 73, Calico Rock, AR 72519.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
