Joanne Watson Douglass, age 92, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, passed away on March 10, 2026. Born at home on December 6, 1933, in the Bayou Meto-Cato community of Jacksonville to Waverly Lewis Watson and Irene Wood Watson, she was a lifelong member of The United Methodist Church and a devoted Christ follower.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, W.L. Watson, Jr. and James M. Watson, two sisters, Mildred Snider and Jeanette Pigg, and her loving husband of 60 years, John Bennett Douglass. Joanne is survived by her two children, Pamela Douglass Kanakis of El Dorado, Arkansas, and Phillip Alan Douglass (Beth) of Jenks, Oklahoma. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Amanda Whittaker (Jon) of Rogers, Arkansas, Lauren Dennis (Josh) of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Adrian Douglass (Rachel) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Kate Dolan (Ethan) of Conway, Arkansas, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Eva and Kellan Whittaker, Sawyer, Gage, Ruby, Hazel, and Tilly Dennis. She also leaves behind one sister, Mary Jane Williams of Starkville, Mississippi.
Throughout her long life, Joanne remained deeply connected to her family and her faith, cherishing the many generations that followed her. Her quiet strength and gentle spirit touched all who knew her, and she will be remembered with great love and respect by those she leaves behind.
