Joann Barnard ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes – MacDonald Chapel - Howell on Mar. 9, 2026.Joann Marilyn Barnard, of Howell, MI, passed away on March 8, 2026, at the age of 82.Born on March 19, 1943, to the late Arvo and Sylvia Luoma, Joanne built a life centered around family, love, and simple joys.Joann cherished time with her family and especially loved being a grandmother. Her grandchildren brought her endless pride and happiness, and she treasured every moment spent with them.She also had a very special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Cassidy, a border collie. Joann enjoyed taking Cassidy on walks and spending time with her faithful companion.One of the greatest loves of Joann's life began when she met Richard Barnard in the seventh grade. The two became sweethearts at a young age and remained devoted to one another throughout their lives until Richard's passing in 2013.Joann is survived by her daughters, Christine (Vince Barbisan) Barnard, Kathy (Gregg Stotler) McMonagle, and Bonnie (Patrick) Larochelle. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Richard (Tara) Barnard II, Allan McMonagle, Joanna McMonagle, Claudia Larochelle, Sophie Larochelle, and William Larochelle; and her great-granddaughter, Kennedy Barnard.She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Barnard; her sister, Nancy Miller; and her parents, Arvo and Sylvia Luoma.Per Joann's wishes, cremation will take place.
