Joann B. Wesberry

August 27, 1941 March 13, 2026

Batesburg, SC

Joann Lenora Buzhardt Wesberry, 84, passed away on March 13, 2026, at the Presbyterian Community of Clinton, South Carolina. The youngest child and only daughter of the late H.O. and Tillie Buzhardt, she was the beloved little sister of the late M.O. Buzhardt and Leon Buzhardt and his wife Margaret. A 1959 graduate of Batesburg-Leesville High School, Joann attended the University of South Carolina, where she met the late W.C. “Bill” Wesberry. Married for 31 years, they raised their three children—Lisa Lanora Weaver (Bill), Krista Katrina Berg (Brian), and William Wain—in Batesburg.

While Bill traveled for his sales career, Joann created a warm and stable home. A devoted mother, she instilled in her children a love for God, good manners, higher education, music lessons, and cherished family trips to New Smyrna Beach. Sharp and industrious, she was a successful businesswoman who opened a Merle Norman franchise in Batesburg, operated Carriage House Catering, served as Office Manager for Rawls Auto Auction, and owned and operated the Saluda River Resort for 16 years. Joann found joy in dancing, playing bridge, cooking, shopping at Mae’s, dressing with flair, exploring estate sales, and decorating beautiful homemade pound cakes that were true works of art.

Deeply committed to her faith, Joann was active for many years at First Baptist Church of Batesburg before becoming a Presbyterian. She was a member of B-L Presbyterian, First Presbyterian of Clinton, First Presbyterian Fernandina Beach, and South Jacksonville Presbyterian. Ordained as a Deacon in 2016 in Fernandina, she led various food ministries with quiet dedication.

She is survived by her three children and five grandchildren. Being “Nana” to Tucker and Sutton Allendorf, Neal Weaver, and Will and Aubrey Wesberry brought her profound joy, a happiness made even sweeter by her role as great-grandmother to Wes and Archie Allendorf.
