Joan Wozniak

Joan Wozniak, 91, of Middleport, NY passed away on March 15, 2026 at the Lockport Rehab & Health Center, where she had been in long-term care for two years.

She was born September 29, 1934 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Valentine and Frances Murawski. In June of 1955 she married Frank Wozniak and moved to Middleport, residing on Johnson Creek Road for nearly 70 years. Joan worked at Fisher-Price Toys in Medina for 23 years until their closing, after which she retired. This gave her more time to enjoy her family. Those that knew Joan will remember her for her kindness, generous spirit, resilience and the impact she had on her family.

In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her devoted husband, Frank; and three brothers-in-law and their wives.

She is survived by her daughter, Michele Smith-Link (Budd Link); son, Timothy (Sherrie) Wozniak; cherished by her grandchildren, Kathleen Smith (Andrew Lavin), Austin Smith (Mikaela Cherry), Dustin Wozniak and Mickelene Wozniak; great-grandchild, Kiley Marie Wozniak; a cousin, nieces, nephews and special friend, Irene Lavin.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 19 from 4-6PM, immediately followed by a memorial service at 6PM at Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 20 at 11AM at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, St. Patrick’s Church, 1726 Quaker Rd., Barker. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or www.shrinerschildrens.org.
