Claussen (nee McDonnell), born March 30, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, to William E. and Gertrude (nee Jablonski) McDonnell, passed away peacefully, on March 13, 2026, seventeen days shy of her 96th birthday. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 42 years, William F. Claussen, Jr., her daughter, Marianne, and her brother, William E. McDonnell (Carmella). She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Carroll (Daniel), Kathleen Collins (the late Philip), Susan Hogan (Timothy), Trish DiBennardi (Nick), Joan (Jennifer Lund); her grandchildren, Daniel, Kathleen (Michael Hohenadel), Michael and Abby Hogan; Daniel (Sara Pelczarski) and Timothy (Kaitlyn) Carroll; Kevin (Kersten) and Courtney (Daniel Jarva) Collins. And the joys of her life, her five great-grandchildren, Lucy Joan and Charlie Hohenadel, Caleb Carroll, Keegan Collins and Wells Jarva. She is also survived by her dear friend and loving companion of over 20 years, Jack Faryan.After Joan's daughters were raised, she spent her time volunteering at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School as a member of the Board of Trustees for ten years. In 1983, after her last daughter had graduated, she founded Mac's, Ltd., the school bookstore, and ran it for 29 years until her youngest granddaughter, Abby, graduated in 2012. She also served, over many years and in many capacities, for the Little Company of Mary Auxiliary. Visitation Sunday, March 29th, 2026, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Monday, March 30, 2026, 10:00 a.m. from Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111th Street, Chicago Ridge, IL 60415 to St. Linus Church, 10300 S.
