Joan McGuirk Warnken

Joan M. Warnken, 90, of Brunswick, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Samaritan Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Troy, Joan was the daughter of the late Joseph and Olga Lasky McGuirk and the wife of the late Jacob Warnken, Jr. Raised in Troy, she graduated from Catholic Central High School and Mildred Elley. She worked for several years at the New York State Department of Transportation, retiring in 1999. A longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy, Joan found joy in cooking, baking, and tending her garden. Above all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren, especially during the many family visits to Wells, Maine, where she and Jake vacationed faithfully for more than 50 years.

She is survived by her children, Lisa (Charlie) Helenek, Brian (Joan) Warnken, and Tricia (Dann) Lammon; her grandchildren, Christopher (Elvia) Warnken, Andrew (Andrea) Helenek, Emma (Aaron) Lammon, Molly Warnken, Joshua Helenek, Abby Lammon, and Maggie Helenek; a great-grandson, Jacob Warnken; two sisters, Theresa Bulger and Carol (James) Constanza; a brother, Robert (Arlene) McGuirk; and several nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her daughter, Jody Warnken, and her siblings, John and Sandra McGuirk.
