To know Joan was to know a woman of boundless light, a caring heart, and a spirit that remained stubbornly positive regardless of life's seasons.Joan's greatest pride and joy was her role as a mother to her only son, Ray. Her love for him was the cornerstone of her life-a selfless, encouraging, and fierce devotion that shaped the man he is today. She didn't just give of her time; she gave of her soul, ensuring that her family always felt the warmth of her strong and encouraging presence. She found rhythm and flavor in the everyday. Joan was often found in the kitchen, cooking up meals that tasted like home, or dancing to the music she loved so dearly. Her home was a place of melody, laughter, and an open door for anyone in need of a kind word.Joan worked for Service Merchandise for 25 years. After retiring for Service Merchandise, she went to work at Metro Codes Division, where she retired after 15 years of service.Visitation will be Wednesday March 11, 2026 at Sellars Funeral Home Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. To honor a woman who spent her life lifting others up, the following will serve as pallbearers are Cade Sharpe, Tracy Faulk, Scott Ford, Marc Ford, Zack Skulj, Ibro Skulj.Joan lived her life with a selfless heart, and while she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is likely dancing once again, music playing loud, and watching over them all with that signature smile. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Joan's honor to the American Cancer Society https://donate.cancer.org/?campaign=honormemorialbutton&lang=en in the fight against Uterine/Endometrial CancerTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
