Present for her in the final moments of her life were her son John, and her daughter -in-law Anna, whom she considered like a daughter.Joan was born in Queens New York where she lived for 38 years before moving to Manalapan New Jersey. She has been a resident of Florida for the last 49 years of her life, the vast majority of those years in Stuart. Prior to retiring she was a school secretary for the Martin County Public Schools. Joan served on the Board of the Cedar Pointe Village 7 Association for many years which included several years as president. Joan had an iron will, a charismatic personality and a zest for life. At the age of 95 she became Co-President of the Women's Club. She loved to plan parties and as one member of the family shared "I always picture her during the holidays with a glass of wine in her hand enjoying the moment."Joan is survived by her family who dearly loved her, daughters Paula Marciante and Linda Pfohl and son John, her daughter through marriage to John, Anna Ranieri and her son through marriage to Linda, Paul Pfohl. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, John, Mia, Tommy, Anthony and Michael and her two great grandchildren, Liana and Esme in addition to many dear nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents Tommy and Madeline McArdle, her sister Jane McGovern, her sister-in-law June Brady and her loving husband John.A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on March 30th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1200 East 10th Street Stuart Florida. A repast lunch will follow at the Cedar Pointe Village 7 Club House at 12:00 pm.Joan's final months were made comfortable and special by the staff at Treasure Coast Hospice. Nurse Ellen, Father Richard, Social Worker Sabrina and Home Health Aide Bea whose visits brightened Joan's days are only a few of the people who helped my mother during this period of her life.
