Joan (Donais) Iacoi

Joan (Donais) Iacoi, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026. Born on February 29, 1936, in Danielson, Connecticut, she was the beloved only child of Grace (Lis) Donais and was raised in Norwich. She graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1953, worked for SNET for eight years, and married Vincent “Vinnie” Iacoi in 1958. Together they began their family in 1961. Joan later returned to work and enjoyed a long career at Styles in the Norwichtown Mall, where she served as a fashion buyer, salesperson, and cashier.

Joan was known for her warm spirit, quick laughter, and the genuine way she made everyone around her feel welcome. She treasured time spent with family and friends and held a special love for the ocean, where she found peace watching the rhythm of the waves. She and Vinnie spent 58 cherished summers at Jim’s Trailer Park in Misquamicut, surrounded by lifelong friends.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vincent Iacoi, in August 2025, as well as by her brothers- and sister-in-law, Louis Jr., Joseph, Frank, and Rose. Joan is survived by her daughter, Ivy, and Ivy’s husband, John; her son, Jamie; many nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends.
