Joan Ferraro
January 4, 1939— March 7, 2026
Saugerties, NY
Joan Ferraro, known to all who loved her as Nanny Joan, passed peacefully at home on March 7, 2026. Born on January 4, 1939, in Queens, New York, to Joseph and Louise Wipper, she brought kindness, creativity, and quiet generosity to everyone whose life she touched.
A devoted homemaker, mother, and friend, Joan possessed a deeply artistic spirit. She found joy in tending her garden and in bringing beauty to everyday life. She cherished her time in Florida with loved ones and, above all, treasured the people around her, always ready to help and give freely of herself.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dominick Ferraro; her parents, Joseph and Louise Wipper; and her sister, Norma Ponko. She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Christine Yates and Julie Setera (Paul); her granddaughter, Courtney Thomas (Jeff); her step-grandson, Paul C. Setera; and her great-granddaughter, Mia Thomas.
Joan will be missed beyond measure by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
