Jayess, MS
Joan Elizabeth Thornhill, 81, of Jayess, Mississippi, passed away on March 13, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on April 21, 1944, in Tylertown, Mississippi, Joan was the daughter of the late Ellis L. and Tera Nations Thornhill. She retired as a Receiving Manager at Wal-Mart after working until the age of 81. A woman of Pentecostal faith, she served for many years with the Enon Volunteer Fire Department as a first responder. Joan cherished her time at flea market auctions, which she attended every Monday night, and found great joy in tending to her flowers and watching butterflies. She delighted in sharing crab legs and, above all, treasured the moments spent with her grandchildren.
She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis L. and Tera Nations Thornhill; her brothers, E.F. Thornhill and Noel Thornhill (and sister-in-law Shirley); her son-in-law, Clyde “Tommy” Reeves; her grandson, Roman Scott Wallace; and her great-grandson, Eli Shane Reed.
She is survived by her brother, Ronnie Thornhill (Ann); her daughters, Darla Bracey (Mark) and Rhonda Reeves; her son, Bradley Wallace; her grandchildren, Danielle Burnette (Blaine), Megan Daix, Morgan Daix-Lloyd (Justin), Starleigh Wallace, Clyde “TJ” Reeves (Paula), and Jeremy “Bubba” Reeves; her great-grandchildren, Parker Daix, Wyatt Runnels, Tucker Malone, and Brady Burnette; her nieces and nephews, JoAnn Case, Lisa Greer (Dean), Cindy Carney (Nate), John Thornhill (Melissa), Tera Givens (Christopher), Glynn Thornhill (Racheal), Austin Thornhill, and Kathi Griffin (Reggie); and her dear friend, Robert Peden.
