Joan Elizabeth Shaver

1935 — 2026

Morgantown, WV

Joan Elizabeth Shaver, beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Shaver, passed away on March 10, 2026 at the age of 91.

Born on February 17, 1935 in Richard, West Virginia, Joan was the daughter of the late Richard Conner and Elizabeth (Hall) Conner. She enjoyed a long and dedicated career, serving more than 35 years as a director with Blue Cross-Blue Shield, where she managed operations for both the Morgantown and Parkersburg locations. A lifelong Methodist, she was a faithful member of Brookhaven United Methodist Church and generously volunteered her time there as bookkeeper.

Joan and Bob shared a life centered on togetherness. Whether traveling to London, Paris, and Amsterdam or simply exploring West Virginia in search of a new local restaurant, the destination was secondary to the joy of each other’s company. Joan loved to dance, especially with Bob, who she fondly recalled had a particularly impressive “twist.”

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Oliver (Michael); son, Stephen Evasko; grandson, Tyler Evasko; and brother-in-law, Glenn Shaver. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Conner.
