Joan Pottinger ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home - St. Matthews on Mar. 17, 2026.Joan Elizabeth Pannuti Pottinger, 50, was a force for good and love wherever she lived, from New York City to Arlington, Virginia to Louisville. Mom, wife, friend, co-worker, and. volunteer . . . she wore all those hats and more and touched countless lives everywhere she went.Joan passed away on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon after spending time celebrating her Irish heritage with family and friends. She always loved a good parade. She was equally proud of her Italian ancestry and was quick with a joke but even quicker with a kind word. Like Joan of Arc, the saint for whom she was named, she was fiercely loyal and faithful. She loved dogs, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, quality pasta, National Parks, travel, historical sites, dive bars, PBS murder mysteries with the subtitles on, and 80s and 90s music. Even better when she could enjoy those with her family and friends.Joan was born June 23, 1975, in North Tarrytown, New York, now known as Sleepy Hollow, the only daughter to Carl Pannuti and the late Mary Tighe Pannuti. Joan was the former Kentucky Director for MIssion Advancement for Best Buddies, an organization serving those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.Joan was an active member and volunteer for St. Agnes Catholic Church and school. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Anthony O. "Tony" Pottinger; two daughters, Greta Clare and Mary Caroline Pottinger; and Violet, their beloved golden doodle. She is also survived by her father Carl Pannuti and her three brothers: Paul Pannuti, CJ Pannuti (Kathy) and their two daughters, Rory and Riley, Thomas Pannuti (Angie) and their two sons, Michael and Matthew; sister-in-law, Suzanne Pottinger Arrow (Steve) and their two sons, Will and Jack. She also leaves behind many cherished friends from around the country and world, including her fellow graduates of the School of the Holy Child in Rye, New York; Manhattan University; and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2026, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road.
